Before writing "The Maze Runner" James Dashner had completed the "Fincher" series, and according to gradesavers.com "After completion of the four books in the Fincher series, Dashner began another planned trilogy: The Maze Runner. Like the previous saga, this series would again focus on a young boy in a perilous situation"(Biography of James Dashner). So it seems, that he was pleased with the “Fincher” series, that he would write another series of a boy in a perilous situation. Now, James Dashner found his passion of writing at an early stage, according to seventeen.com, “Since the day I fell in love with Judy Blume books in elementary school. Author to Character Comparison: When I think of the author, and try to compare him to a character in “The Maze Runner”, I would say he is most like the main character; Thomas. I think when any author writes a novel, they usually create their protagonists in relation to how themselves act, feel, and show emotion. In this novel, Thomas is the protagonist, and he is a very brave, and clever boy. Throughout the novel, Thomas will begin to be prove that he is a leader, and lead his friends.
